clutch diagrams and repair manuals - the general information
Clutch - the general information and check of a condition of components
On all models equipped with a manual gear box, the one-friction clutch transmission of dry type with a spring is used. The nave of a frictional (conducted) disk is equipped longitudinal slots, entering into gearing with slots wrist pins of a main drive shaft of transmission. Frictional and press clutch plates are kept in contact piece with each other at the expense of the effort developed by a spring of a pressure disk. Clutch deenergizing is made by a hydraulic mode. The deenergizing drive gear consists of a clutch pedal, the main hydraulic cylinder with the reservoir, connecting lines and a slave cylinder affecting a declutching lever and a release bearer. At pedal squeezing in a system path hydraulic pressure which is as a result put to the external end of a declutching lever rises. At lever turning movement, fingers of its shaft rest against a release bearer which, in turn, being displaced, nestles on petals of a spring of a pressure disk in a clutch basket. Being curved, the spring interrupts contact piece of press and conducted disks, releasing last. At clutch service, besides replacement of the components having obvious damages, it is necessary to make some primary checks (it is supposed, that the gear box is in a serviceable condition).

clutch diagrams and repair manuals - clutch in details
Clutch diagrams and repair manuals - clutch in details: clutch consists of a flywheel 1, a clutch plate (driven disk) 2 and a clutch pressure disk (an automatic drive gear of clutch) 3. In all mondeo with a mechanical gear box the clutch pressure disk has a spring.

clutch diagrams and repair manuals - clutch work (the closed hydraulic system)
Clutch work (the closed hydraulic system): 1 - a compensatory tank of a brake liquid, 2 - a clutch master cylinder, 3 - a driven disk of clutch with the built in bearing of deenergizing of clutch.
How clutch works?
Clutch spacing: at not loaded clutch pedal the distance from a clutch pressure disk is maintained by the bearing of deenergizing of clutch. To similarly deterioration of a clutch plate the clutch spacing, with run increase, becomes always less: the pressure disk spring approaches with the bearing of deenergizing of clutch. As soon as the bearing without a spacing will adjoin to a spring, the pressure disk is released. The clamping effort of a driven disk to adjoining surfaces of a flywheel and a pressure disk thereof is automatically depressed. If the spacing cannot be corrected more, clutch cannot transfer an engine twisting moment in a gear box any more - the engine flywheel does not concern a driven disk.
Unlocking: If to press a clutch pedal thereby by means of the bearing of deenergizing of clutch elasticity of a pressure disk is slackened. It is released and - at full switching-off of clutch - leaves: the driven disk freely rotates between a pressure disk and a flywheel.
Clutch inclusion: at clutch inclusion in steering of clutch the return motion of process of unlocking practically weeps. The released spring of a pressure disk gradually presses a driven disk to a flywheel. At this stage frictional layer pads quickly slide on a flywheel and a clutch pressure disk. At a disconnected clutch pedal the clamping effort of a hydraulic drive gear as a result is so great, paternal the flywheel even stops both joint between a flywheel and a pressure disk becomes a reality. Now the engine power is completely transferred in a gear box.
clutch diagrams and repair manuals - сlutch check
The worn out clutch, undoubtedly, it is possible to learn when you accelerate the car on the maximum drive or move on mountain district. The engine rotates on the big turns, and speed thus does not raise. Inform better in due time on a condition of the clutch - naturally, only at the proved suspicions as clutch at such dry test thoroughly sweats. Before you start the engine, establish a handbrake.
1. Establish a handbrake and start the engine. Engage clutch, establish 3rd drive and try, as usually, to get under way from a place.
2. At faultless clutch the motor smothers already on the first quarter of a returned clutch pedal.
3. If the engine continues to work further, clutch is worn out.
